Meerkats – Africa’s Cutest Critters

Meerkats are part of Africa’s so-called “Shy 5” which also includes the bat-eared fox, the aardvark, porcupine and aardwolf.

An early-morning Meerkat interaction gives you a chance to watch these incredible habituated creatures emerge from their burrows and witness them soak up the sun before heading off on their daily activities.

Oudtshoorn is an ideal location from which to meet up with the Meerkats of the Klein Karoo.

Also known as suricates, meerkats are fascinating animals, and watching them cavort and play is a magical experience.

Wear clothing appropriate for a walk in the bush – and don’t forget sunscreen, a hat and your camera!
